Ingredients to make Japanese glass:
- SiO2
- NaCO3
- CaCO3
- Dye
Step by Step:
1
The ingredients are placed in the oven at 1400ºC and left until a melt with the desired consistency is achieved.
2
Next, the glass container is changed to cool it a little so that it can be handled more easily.
3
The mixture is passed using a compressed air tool through a hole in the bottom of the container obtaining uniform glass tubes of the desired shape (different containers with different hole shapes - circles, squares, rectangles, etc.)
To give you an idea, think about pasta with different shapes like the ones in the image.
4
The tubes are then cut into narrower sections and mixed with powdered carbon at 700ºC to round the edges.
5
Everything is soaked to remove the particles and the beads are polished.
6
Finally, all that remains is to give them the corresponding finish (which varies from one type to another) and give them a final soak.
And tachannnnn!
